I even love the way words look. In school while my friends doodled pictures I looked for ways to make my notes look interesting. I distinctly remember writing “joints” with big flowing letters in my anatomy class over and over loving the way that it looked. I love being surrounded by words, and now, with wall lettering, I can decorate my walls with my favorite sayings; picking from hundreds of available fonts, giving my home my family’s own distinct handprint.

Words allow us to give voice to our feelings; they allow us to express who we are and what is important to us. Custom wall lettering allows you to express yourself in your home, apartment, office, school, church, wherever you are in the way that best represents you and in a sense, leave your hand print. Wall lettering is easy to apply to almost any surface and have the look of hand-painted lettering. There are hundreds of wall lettering fonts available for you to choose from for every personality or room (funky, fun, elegant, sporty, inspiring, cute.) as well as many different colors. The words can be layered on top of each other and made large or small. The custom vinyl words are easily removable so if you get tired of a certain quote you can take it down and put up a new one. You can even change things according to the season.

Essentially, wall lettering will allow you to express yourself any way that you want! What can you come up with?

• Wooden Blocks, readily available at craft stores can be customized with letters/numbers/pictures to say anything from Merry Christmas, to Have a Great Day, to Will you Marry Me?
• One of my favorite ways to use vinyl is on picture frames. With vinly lettering picture frames you can write Happy Halloween in a fun font on an orange frame, or Live, Laugh, Love in an elegant script, or anything else you can think of!
• Custom vinyl lettering can also come to your rescue with gifts for those people you have no idea what to get. For example for an end of the year teacher gift, you could get a glass jar, fill it with pencils and place a quote on the jar to make it special, but affordable.
• Signs are also a fantastic way to customize your vinyl lettering. Anything you can dream up can be placed on a board and hung on a wall, placed on a table etc. Shorter quotes, or even just names work best on signs and give the words an extra uumpf. Signs are a little more versatile than putting a quote straight on the wall as you can move it around as your decorating needs change. Signs also make great wedding or graduation gifts.
• Bulletin Boards and magnetic boards can also be embellished with a quote, and can make a fun/different statement.

Customized vinyl lettering is great, it can be tailored to fit the exact space that you want to fill, and can be adhered to pretty much any clean surface, making the possibilities endless. Since we’ve starting creating custom vinyl wall lettering for clients, I now have the answers to those questions. Here are 5 of the best ways that I have found to use vinyl wall lettering in your home:

1. Use a simple quote in vinyl letters to enhance a photo on your wall—this is a very simple way to add that ‘little something’ to your pictures, and can be extremely cute, elegant, fun depending on the font you use.
2. Use vinyl wall lettering as a border for a room—I did this with my son’s room, and it turned out so awesome! I was living in an apartment, so I couldn’t paint the walls. Instead, I used a vinyl wall lettering boarder so I could take it down when I moved. Also, I could change it up whenever I wanted (as in when my daughter moved into share his room, or just when I wanted a different theme). It doesn’t have to be just letters – you can create custom vinyl shapes as well!
3. Create labels on cabinets/toy bins—I had searched for a very long time trying to find a cute way to do this, and finally found one! – Custom vinyl labels on cabinets and toy bins teach my young children to read as they look for the proper bins to put their toys away in.
4. Create a vinyl team banner for your favorite sports team—yes, that’s right, your husband will even like this one! I created a very cute (I mean, awesome ?) banner for my son’s room saying “Go ….(sports team)!” that both my son and husband absolutely loved, and looked cute!
5. Put a custom quote that you love on the wall—this is the most common way to use vinyl wall lettering, and is a classic for a reason. A carefully chosen quote in a carefully chosen font can set the tone of a house or a room.

I hope these 5 ideas help you envision how to use vinyl wall lettering in your home, whether your use your own Cricut Expression machine, or order your vinyl online or from a friend.

However, there are many other unique ways you can use vinyl lettering; not just to decorate, but to celebrate your life.

One great way (and one way that is on my mind right now because of my daughter’s wedding) to use vinyl lettering in a new, unique way is to use it as part of your wedding decorations. Usually weddings will have themes. Wedding vinyl lettering is a great, way to enhance and expand the theme of a wedding. It can really make a wedding, beautiful, personal, and convey properly the personality and priorities of the bride and groom. While a picture is worth a thousand words, sometimes words will give meaning to a picture that otherwise would have been misinterpreted. Vinyl lettering can accomplish this for you without costing too much, as using vinyl is inexpensive, versatile, and can be customized to fit your vision.
Here are some great ideas on how you can use vinyl lettering in your next wedding:

• Show off your daughter’s new last name by placing it above an archway or other strategic place at the reception or the actual ceremony.
• Create a wall of quotes from people who love the bride/groom, with personalized messages just for them
• Use elegant vinyl lettering instead of name cards for the reception tables
• Place a wonderful vinyl monogram with a customized message to the bride or groom on the dance floor or on the center pieces.
• There are hundreds of ways to make customized bridesmaids or groomsmen gifts out of vinyl lettering. (picture frames, quote boards, glass blocks with a favorite quote on it etc etc.)

Remember, using vinyl lettering has many advantages:

1. It is not permanent, and can be used at almost any wedding chapel or reception center without worry about damaging anything – however, if you don’t want to remove it, it will last for years without showing any wear and tear.
2. It is relatively inexpensive
3. Can be customized in any way you could ever imagine, which means it can properly convey the personal, intimate message a wedding deserves.

• Vinyl Numbers can be used the same way a quote would be – right on your wall as art. Numbers have a more deco, modern look and feel to them and can give your home a fun facelift.  I recently saw a picture in a decorating magazine in which numbers were used as art filling up an entire wall above a couch. They were all in different fonts – some were framed, it was different and eye catching.
• A Vinyl number boarder can make a fun statement in children’s rooms, and can be a great learning tool. 0-9 could be placed as a border around the top of a young child’s room, you could even put addition and subtraction problems up on the wall, giving your child a head start in school.
• One of the best uses of vinyl numbers I’ve seen was on a vinyl calendar. It would of course be a combination of vinly numbers and letters. You can get a large (11”-14” – 16”-20”) picture frame and make it into a calendar that can be changed out monthly. It is attractive, easy to write on, and big enough for the entire family to see and have a hard time forgetting certain key events.
• It is also fun to customize your address using vinyl numbers. In creating your own custom vinyl address you could pick a font that you identify with and use it on tiles to place outside your house. Or depending on what your house is made out of you could place it directly on the outside wall.
• Vinyl numbers can also be used on a customized to do list that can hang near your desk helping to prioritize your day and keeping your responsibilities in view in an attractive way.

As with other aspects of vinyl, vinyl numbers can be used in hundreds of ways to make your life more attractive, and also more organized.
